Parvathamma Rajkumar, wife of legendary Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar and proprietor of Kannada movie house Vajreshwari Combines, passed away in the wee hours of Thursday. She was 78.

Parvathamma was admitted to M.S Ramaiah hospital last week over renal problems and was on ventilator since then. As per the official hospital statement, "She was known case of Breast Malignancy with metastasis to her Liver & Lungs. Her Renal functions had also compromised."

Today early morning around 4:30 am, she suffered a major cardiac arrest. Her blood pressure dropped drastically and never recovered, and was declared dead at 4:40 am. Like her husband, she too has donated her eyes.
The Rajkumar family has made arrangements to keep Parvathamma's body at Poorna Pragna school for people to pay their last respects, after which the body will be taken to Kanteerva Studio premises, where it will be laid to rest beside the Rajkumar's memorial.
Parvathamma is credited for producing over 80 films and launching her three sons—Shiv Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkume and Puneeth Rajkumar in the industry.
Her production house's most successful films were with her husband Rajkumar in the lead role, which includes Trimurthy, Haalu Jenu, Kaviratna Kalidasa and Jeevana Chaitra.
She had also produced Anand, Om, Janumada Jodi, and several other movies with her older son Shiv Rajkumar in lead role.
Her son Raghavendra Rajkumar played the lead in Chiranjeevi Sudhakar, Nanjundi Kalyana, Swasthik and Tuvvi Tuvvi Tuvvi. Her youngest son Puneeth starred in Appu, Abhi and Hudugaru.
