The official logo for Pariss bid for the 2024 Olympics was revealed on 9 February in a light show on the facade of the iconic Arc de Triomphe. The logo, which consists of colourful bands forming the number 24, which resembles the Eiffel Tower, materialised during a ceremony that symbolically took place at 8.24pm (20.24 on a 24-hour clock).

The Paris 2024 committee said in a statement that the logo is dynamic, iconic, aesthetic and symbolic and aims to send a message of openness, celebration and modernity. Paris, which hosted the Olympics in 1900 and 1924 and had a failed bid for the 2012 games, is competing against Los Angeles, Rome and Budapest for the 2024 games.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will elect the winning bid at its session in Peru in 2017.
