Versatile actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal, who fascinated everyone with his first production venture "OMG - Oh My God!", is set to enthral everyone with his next production, a biopic on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Although, previous reports suggested that the actor is likely to play the Prime Minister in a biopic that is based on Modi's life and struggle, no confirmation was made. But now, Rawal has reportedly got Modi's approval to go ahead with the film.

It should be mentioned here that the actor had also campaigned for Modi during Gujarat state elections in 2012.

"Paresh Rawal is all set to play NaMo in a biopic based on the Prime Minister's life. In fact, Paresh bhai has already started preparing for the film and very soon an official announcement will be made." a source close to Rawal told Mid-Day.

The actor will not only act in the biopic but will also produce the film. The project is expected to go on floors from February or March next year and the biopic will showcase the entire life of Modi, for which the makers have done extensive research.

"All permissions that were needed to start this project have already been taken and when Modiji was informed about this project, he was really happy," the source added.

"We will start shooting sometime in February or March next year and very soon, we will make an official announcement. I am producing the film and playing Mr Modi in this project. We have done a lot of research and the film's script — it will be interesting, to say the least. When we told Modiji about this project, he gave a green signal. His entire life will be showcased in this film," confirmed Rawal.

Biopics on popular personalities have been a recent trend in Bollywood. It was Farhan Akhtar who first depicted the life of Indian athlete and Olympian, Milkha Singh, in his 2013 release "Bhag Milkha Bhag".

Priyanka Chopra, in "Mary Kom", portrayed the life and success of five-time world champion and Olympic medal-winning boxer, Mary Kom. A biopic on Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also set to hit the theatres by next year.

There are also reports of Salman Khan producing a film on the legendary wrestler Gama Pehalwan.
