Unidentified assailants on Wednesday shot dead the principal of the University of Balochistan's law college in Quetta, Pakistan.

Dawn News quoted police sources as saying that the principal, identified as barrister Amanullah Achakzai, was shot dead by the gunmen in Quetta's Spini Road.

His car was sprayed with bullets severely injuring him. The principal succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Civil Hospital, Quetta.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, reported Dawn News.

The incident is being investigated after the police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the crime scene.

Sanaullah Zehri, chief minister of Balochistan, condemned the barrister's murder and orderd the police to arrest the culprits and submit a report.

A number of lawyers reached Civil Hospital and announced a boycott of courts to protest against the barrister's killing.
