Season 4 of Outlander is adapted from the fourth novel of the Outlander novel series, The Drums of Autumn. The upcoming season will be reportedly filmed in various locations in Eastern Europe besides Scotland as it will revolve around Claire and Jamie facing new challenges while they try to settle down in the American colonies.

Given that, Outlander executive producer Ronald D Moore said they would film in Eastern Europe and four locations in Scotland which would be an apt portrayal of the 18th century America.

Actors Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be seen reprising their roles as Jamie Fraser and Claire Fraser in the Season 4. Along with them, some new faces will be introduced in the drama series.

In an interaction with Radio Times, Caitriona Balfe said, "It's interesting to watch how all of these characters embrace the new land and all of the trials and tribulations that come along with that as well as the excitement, and that kind of new beginning if really exciting to get on board with."

As the filming for the fourth season has already begun, the drama is expected to be aired in 2018 only if it follows the same time frame as the third season. The filming of the third season ended in June 2017 and it premiered in September 2017.

Hence, Outlander Season 4 is likely to be premiered in autumn 2018.
