New Delhi, Nov 21 (ANI): Oscar winning director Mike Nichols who earned the Oscar for Best Director for "The Graduate," passed away at the age of 83. According to reports, the German-born US director, who was one of only 12 winners who had claimed all four major US entertainment awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, had a cardiac arrest, following which he died. Besides winning Oscar for ' The Graduate,' the director was also nominated for the award for 'Working Girl', 'The Remains of the Day', 'Silkwood' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'. Nichols was born Michael Igor Peschkowsky in Berlin, where his parents had settled after leaving Russia. He came to the United States at age 7 when his family fled the Nazis in 1939. Apart from his wife, Nichols is survived by three children, and as per the reports, they would be having a small, private service this week.
