Oscar and BAFTA award winning sound designer Resul Pookutty  has denied rumours that he is doing a movie with superstar Rajinikanth.

Pookutty's manager had earlier said that the sound designer had gone to Chennai to meet the superstar and discuss about a new movie that he is going to direct, triggering reports that Rajinikanth may team up with Pookutty for his next flick. Some reports also suggested that Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan might also be part of the film.

But, Pookutty has refuted the reports citing them as mere rumours. The Oscar winner said that he met Rajinkanth and his daughter Soundarya to discuss about the sound design for their upcoming flick "Kochadaiyaan," an epic thriller starring the actor and Deepika Padukone. It will be the first flick in India to use motion-capturing techniques in 3D.

"It's all rubbish news. I don't understand where this news came from. I am glad now I got an opportunity to clear these rumours. This news has made my life hell. I am not doing any film with Rajini sir," Pookutty told Indo-Asian news service.

"Yes, it is true that I went to Chennai to meet his daughter Soundarya to talk about sound designing of 'Kochadaiyaan' and nothing more than that."

However, Pookutty admitted that he met Bachchan and gave him his script. As of now, there is no further information about the movie with Bachchan. "I have met Amitabh Bachchan and have given my script to him. Nothing is concrete right now. I can't talk about it right now. As soon as I get any response from him, I will be the first person to talk to the media," he said.

Pookutty won a sound mixing Oscar in 2009 for his work in Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire," starring Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto. He also won the BAFTA award for best sound in the movie.
