OnePlus and OPPO are looking to impress consumers with their premium devices offered at reasonable prices. OnePlus 2 and OPPO's just released R7 Plus make for a good competition for those who are looking to buy a new budget flagship.

OnePlus has made itself an image in the consumers' eyes for its top-of-the-line devices at the cheapest price possible and now OPPO is also trying to win customers in a similar fashion.

Luckily, both the devices are available in India and it is fitting to see how they compare with each other on the specifications front. Take a look at all the specs of individual smartphones below:

Design

OPPO's R7 Plus is designed to impress. The handset is the first to feature "violin arc" design and uses aircraft grade magnesium-aluminium alloy uni-body, which undergoes 48 polishing processes using the new anodizing technology to get the perfect finish. The handset gives a premium feel in hand with its 91 percent pure metal construction painted with fine zircon sand particles.

On the other hand, OnePlus 2 makes a strong appeal with its sandstone rear finish, removable back cover and a metal rim.

Display

OPPO R7 Plus should make for a good option for those who love massive screens in a smartphone. The handset features a 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with 2.5G Arc-Edge screen and 367ppi.

As for OnePlus 2 smartphone, the display measures 5.5 inches and packs the same Full HD resolution with 401ppi. The higher pixel density is due to the smaller size of the screen where the pixels are more compact.

Camera

OPPO R7 Plus features a 13MP Sony IMX278 f/2.2 aperture camera sensor with laser auto-focus, LED flash and stable imaging for perfect shots. The camera takes advantage of anti-shake optimisation to take clearer shots and packs interesting features such as Colourful Night. In addition, there is also an impressive 8MP front snapper with 80-degree angle and f/2.4 aperture.

OnePlus 2 also comes with a 13-megapixel camera with laser auto-focus, f/2.0 aperture, OIS and dual-LED flash. It has a 5-megpixel sensor on the front.

Fingerprint Scanner

Both phones have integrated fingerprint scanner, which is the industry's leading security standard in smartphones. R7 Plus features touch-type fingerprint sensor on the rear side of the device, just below the camera sensor. OnePlus 2 packs the fingerprint scanner on its Home button.

Processor

OPPO R7 Plus is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking speeds at 1.5GHz. But OnePlus 2 packs a much powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which combines a quad-core A53, quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex A57 processor.

RAM and Storage

OPPO R7 Plus offers 32GB on-board memory and packs 3GB RAM. The handset also offers a microSD card slot for further storage expansion. Comparatively, OnePlus 2 has just launched the 64GB variant in India that has 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. The 16GB version with 3GB RAM is set to debut later this year. OnePlus 2 does not offer microSD card expansion.

Battery

R7 Plus comes packed with a powerful 4100mAh battery with VOOC rapid charging solution, which delivers two hours of talk time with just five minutes of charging. As for the OnePlus 2, there is a 3,300mAh battery.

Price and Availability

In India, OPPO R7 Plus is priced at Rs 29,990 and is available freely at its stores nationwide. OnePlus 2 64GB variant is priced at Rs 24,999 but is available only through invites.

Verdict

The comparison of OPPO R7 Plus and OnePlus 2 smartphones is based on the specs offered on paper. Real-time review of both handsets will give an in-depth knowledge and a stronger verdict. In our review for OnePlus 2 smartphone, the handset churned impressive results and easily dictated great value for money.

We have not reviewed OPPO R7 Plus, but the handset's camera, design and battery are some of the key highlights. R7 Plus, like OnePlus 2, offers fingerprint scanner, which is good, but lacks USB Type-C port.

There are some shortcomings in R7 Plus, such as its processor and price, but if you cannot wait to purchase a budget flagship, which is the case with OnePlus 2, OPPO's handset can also be of a good value.
