It has been a few interesting days for OnePlus, from launching new accessories for its phones to ending invite-only sales model for its flagship OnePlus 2. Shortly after confirming that its OnePlus X smartphone will be available without invites for three days starting Saturday, 6 December, the smartphone maker said the open sale will not be held in India. Seeing the level of disappointment among its fans, OnePlus decided to bring OnePlus X open sale to Indian shoppers for at least one day.

In an official statement released on Saturday, OnePlus said it is partnering with the renowned cab service in India, Ola, to sell its mid-range smartphone OnePlus X without invites. OnePlus' this one-of-a-kind attempt to sell its phones will be held only on 8 December. After placing the order, Ola takes the responsibility to deliver the handsets at your doorsteps within 15 minutes.

"We continue to deliver unique experiences to delight our consumers by giving users a chance to buy a smartphone on-demand, straight from the Ola app and get it delivered at their doorstep within minutes. This is a testament to the on-demand nature of the mobility solutions, that the Ola platform offers and takes user engagement to an all-new level! We are thrilled to announce this partnership and take great pride in bringing this exclusive access to all Ola users," said Sudarshan Gangrade, VP of Ola marketing division, in a statement.

How to place an order for OnePlus X using Ola

To place an order for OnePlus X, one must have an Ola app installed on their phones. New users must sign up with their details on the Ola app and existing customers can simply sign in. Ordering OnePlus X is similar to how one books a cab using Ola. On 8 December, between 10am and 7pm, there will be a 'ONEPLUSX' category within the app, using which the order can be placed.

After the request has been received, an Ola cab with an OnePlus rep will arrive at your location to deliver the phone. Payments can be done using credit or debit cards or through cash. The service will be available in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

If you happen to miss this unique opportunity to purchase OnePlus X, the handset can also be bought from Amazon.in, provided you have an invite.

In a similar fashion, OnePlus partnered with BlowHorn in October to deliver OnePlus One smartphones within 60 minutes or get the handset for free.
