OnePlus on Wednesday, 10 June, officially kicked-off the OnePlus 2 pre-launch campaign online.

OnePlus 2 promotional scheme requires fans to participate in two contests: Your OnePlus Story and Photo Mania 2015. Three (2+1) lucky people stand a chance to experience the upcoming OnePlus 2 hands on at the company headquarters before the official launch. The package also includes full-expense paid trip to Hong Kong.

"You'll (fans) also get to play a pivotal role in a secret project we have planned for the OnePlus 2 launch. OnePlus has always been about the collaboration between us and our fans, and we want you guys to be an integral part of our next gigantic step," said the company on the official blog post.

Your OnePlus Story:

To participate in this competition, users are required to make small video clip on why and what they like about their OnePlus One smartphone and submit it to the company's blog along with the personal credentials (like name, email, country and other details), HERE before 15 June. [Note: Only two lucky contestants will be picked in this competition]

PhotoMania 2015:

As the name suggests, contestants are given an opportunity to show-off their photography skills by capturing stunning photographs (raw) without the help of any editing tools. Submit the images via Instagram to the company along with the personal credentials( like name, email, Instagram account name, country and other details), HERE before 15 June 12 pm ET (15 June 9:30 pm IST).[Note: Only one lucky contestant will be picked in this competition]

In a related development, OnePlus has revealed that OxygenOS (based on Android 5.1 Lollipop) will be the official software of the company's 2015 smartphone. This announcement comes after OnePlus cut cords with the American custom mobile OS maker Cyanogen in April. Good news is the 2014 model OnePlus One will continue to get CM updates in future.

The company added that OnePlus One users who have migrated to the first OxygenOS version (based on v5.0.2 Lollipop) in April will have to wait until the launch of OnePlus 2 (probably in July).

"The entire team is currently heads down working on the release for the upcoming OnePlus 2. We are very excited about the work we've done and can't wait to show you all the new features and improvements we've made. We have a small team which means in order to do our best work, we need to focus. This unfortunately means that we won't have an OTA for the community build of OxygenOS we released back in April for the OnePlus One until after the OnePlus 2 release," said OnePlus forum administrator Helen.

Expected Specifications of OnePlus Two:

As per reports, OnePlus 2 is expected to sport a 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) display and inside, it is said to house the Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 SoC (System on Chip) backed by 4GB RAM, 64GB (expandable), 3,300mAh battery, 16mp camera on the rear-side and a 5mp snapper on the front.

And, it has been learnt that the company will use metal instead of polycarbonate to cover the rear-side to make the new phone look premium like tier-1 brand rivals Samsung, Apple and HTC.

With top-of-the-line hardware features inside the body, OnePlus Two is rumoured to come with an affordable price-tag of ¥2499 (around $403/€369/₹25,752).

If the specifications and budget-friendly price-tag of OnePlus 2 turns out to be true, then there is no doubt that the Chinese company will once again heat up the global smartphone market, like it did with the first generation One.
