An Odisha court on Tuesday reportedly sentenced five people to death for gang-raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl in Barbil in 2012.
The Champua court in Keonjhar district awarded the death penalty to the accused on charges of gang-rape and murder of the class 8 student three years ago.
The teenager was dragged to a nearby forest in Belkundi village under the Barbil police station jurisdiction by seven men when she was returning home from tuition.
The arrested include Mata Munda, Mangal Purty, Jiten Munda, Biswanath and Harjit Singh. Two others are still at large, said reports.
