Finnish handset maker Nokia on Wednesday (3 July) announced two new budget 3G based feature phones - Nokia 207 and Nokia 208.

Speaking at the launch event, Executive Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia, Timo Toikkanen said, "The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are designed for people who like a classic phone and traditional keypad but don't want to miss out on smartphone experiences, like staying connected to social media and accessing the Internet."

"As our most affordable 3G devices yet, the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 offer a perfect balance of performance, features and quality," he added.

Nokia 207 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA (320x240p) display with pixel density of 166 ppi (pixels per inch) and runs on the Nokia Series 40 interface with 64MB RAM. It packs 256 inbuilt memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

On the other hand, Nokia 208 packs very much the same specifications as seen on Nokia 207. The only noticeable difference is that it ships with a 1.3-megapixel fixed focus camera with 3X digital zoom and also comes with camera modes such as Panorama, sequential shot mode and voice guides to enable users to take a self portrait. In comparison, the latter (Nokia 207) does not feature a camera at all.

Both Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 boast of an amazing battery life of 33 days on standby mode. Another striking feature is that these low-cost phones come with 3.5G connectivity which enable users to stream videos from YouTube as well as stay connected with friends on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

The company has confirmed that the 207 and 208 models (both single-SIM and dual-SIM) will have the same price-tag of €52 (around ₹4,000) and shipments would start during Q3, 2013. The company also mentioned that the single-SIM Nokia 207 model will hit Europe first. Nokia is still tight-lipped about the availability of new phones in other major global markets.
