Kapil Sharma made headlines Friday, March 18, when speculations of the popular stand-up comedian getting his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds, London, surfaced. The news of the comedian-actor's wax statue at the widely popular waxworks attraction caused fan frenzy, making it trend on Twitter with the hashtag "Congrats Kapil Sharma."

However, much to the disappointment of Kapil's fans, the authorities at Madame Tussauds have confirmed that they currently have no plans of including Kapil's statue to the collection.

"Thanks for getting in touch. We currently don't have any plans to make a figure of Kapli Sharma at Madame Tussauds London, but we will take the suggestion into consideration for the future, thank you. Once we have confirmed a new figure we always publish the news on our website and social media pages first, so stay tuned there to get the official up to date latest figure news," the authories at the museum told Hindustan Times through mail.

Besides clearing the speculation about Kapil, the authorities also said that the museum will soon open a branch in Delhi. "At this early stage, all we can confirm is that Delhi will be become the newest location for a Madame Tussauds wax attraction in early 2017. Full details of the experiences and celebrity figures to be featured are still being finalised. As soon as we have any further information we will be sure to pass on," they stated.

The speculations started doing the rounds after some pictures of a team taking measurements of Kapil surfaced online. The pictures went viral on social media suggesting that Kapil would be the first Indian television actor to get the honour.

In other news, the funnyman is all set to entertain viewers with a new comedy show "The Kapil Sharma Show," which will go on air April 23 onwards. Besides Kapil, the team of "Comedy Nights With Kapil" including Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Sumona Chakravarti, Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar and Navjot Singh will also be a part of the new show.
