Japanese auto-maker Nissan is gearing up to launch its new X-Trail crossover in India by the end of this fiscal. Guillaume Sicard, president, Nissan India operations has confirmed the arrival of the X-Trail in India by March 2017.

Nissan X-Trail hybrid had made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. To be brought to Indian as completely built units (CBU), the X-Trail is expected to be priced at around Rs. 35 lakh in India.

The X-Trail will get a petrol hybrid engine — a 2.0-litre MR20 DD petrol engine working in tandem with an electric motor to develop a combined output of 179bhp and mated to Xtronic CVT transmission. Nissan has already started testing the model on Indian roads, and it has been caught on camera quite a few times. It measures 4,640mm in length, 1,820mm in width, 1,715mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,705mm.

Nissan, which is now shifting its focus in India to SUVs and crossovers, has three models lined up for the next three years. The company, which launched the redi-Go from its low-cost brand Datsun, would launch its next Datsun offering — the Go-cross crossover — in the country in 2019. Nissan will also launch its compact SUV, the Kicks, in the country in 2018. The Kicks is expected to rival Hyundai Creta.
