New features of Google's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6 have been leaked to the media with its release date getting closer. Going by the reports, the device may boast of several features superior to that of its competitors, including HTC One M8 that was released a few months ago.

Google hasn't revealed the release date of its upcoming device,  but reports suggest that it might be unveiled in October, just a few weeks after the unveiling of Apple's iPhone 6. Sundar Pichai, VP at Google, said at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October.

Nexus 6 is set to give tough competition to HTC One M8, besides Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 in the smartphone market not only because its price tag will be much lower than its counterparts, but also because it may boast of good features. The 16GB HTC One M8 LTE version with unlocked SIM card slot has a price tag of $649, while Nexus 5 costs $349 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB, hinting that its successor could be much cheaper than HTC device.

Going by the reports that have surfaced so far, Nexus 6 is not behind HTC One M8 when it comes to features.

Google's device may sport a 5.2-inch full HD with 1080x1920 pixels resolution, while HTC One M8 has a 5.0-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (441 ppi pixel density). According to G4Games, Nexus 6 will be powered by Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that was clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GH. It may run on Android L, which will be introduced in the device.

On the other hand, HTC's device has Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat, which is upgradable to v4.4.3 KitKat.

Nexus 6 may house either a 20MP camera with HDR mode or a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front snapper, compared to HTC device's dual 4MP camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash. Google's smartphone may come packed with 32 GB internal memory, 3GB RAM and 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery, while HTC One M8 has 16/32 GB internal memory with microSD card up to 128 GB, 2 GB RAM and Li-Po 2600 mAh battery.
