Even as speculations on the release date of Google's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6 aka X are doing the rounds, Nexus 5 has received price cut, giving a hint that the launch of the new device is not far off.

Interestingly, eBay is offering the 16GB variant of Google Nexus 5 for $324.99, which is $25 lower than the original price. The carrier also offers free shipping for the device. However, the price of the 32GB variant remains the same on Google Play Store.

Google usually don't reduce the price of its products until a new device is in the offing, so the discount on its latest smartphone has sparked off speculations that it might release its upcoming device soon. The latest move by eBay could be aimed at selling as much Nexus 5 as possible before the release of its successor.

Google Inc. hasn't revealed the release date of Nexus 6 aka X but reports have it that it might see the light of the day next month. Inferse recently reported that Motorola Shamu aka Nexus 6 could be unveiled on 31 October. It may be recalled that Sundar Pichai, VP at Google, had revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October but he didn't reveal the exact date.

According to reports that have surfaced so far, Nexus 6 may sport a 5.2-inch display, powered by Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7GHZ, run on Google's upcoming software, Android L and house a 13.1 MP camera with OIS. TKTechNews claimed that the new device will be priced around €419.99.

It may be recalled that G4Games had earlier reported that the Nexus 6 might be powered by a Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GHz. It may come packed with 32 GB internal memory and 3GB RAM, run on the upcoming Android L and house a 3100 mAh Li-Polymer battery. Reports suggested that it may have a 20MP camera with HDR mode or a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front snapper.

According to reports that have surfaced so far, the device may have several interesting features, including a curved LCD display and a lightweight, polycarbonate body. It may also boast of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity slot.
