Volkswagen India is expected to drive in its new Beetle, the 'bug car' to the country by the end of this year. The preparations are already underway to welcome the third generation Beetle in the country and the dealers of the Volkswagen have already started accepting the bookings for the model.

Now the latest buzz is that the launch date of the Volkswagen Beetle could fall around mid-December. A latest report of CarWale indicates that the Volkswagen Beetle launch in India would take place in the second week of December, with 20 as the probable launch date. However, the official confirmations are awaited.

To be sold only in one variant, the new avatar of Beetle will be offered in four colours in India: Habanero Orange, Oryx White, Tornado Red and Blue Silk. The Beetle, which is slightly angular in its latest avatar, will get a dual-zone air-conditioning system, multi-function display, an audio system with eight speakers, panaromic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirrors and cruise control inside the cabin.

To be priced around the Rs 30-lakh mark, under the hood, Volkswagen Beetle will get an in-line four-cylinder 1395cc TSI petrol engine developing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque, mated to seven-speed DSG transmissions. The car comes with a 0-100kmph time of 8.7 seconds and top speed of 203kmph.
