Popular instant messaging app Skype has now received an update that allows new users to indulge in video calling and chatting without even having to create an account. As per Microsoft, these changes are now live.

You can now test the newly updated Skype out, by just navigating to the official Microsoft website and joining the instant messenger as a guest. You can resort to doing all things like before, which includes video calling, chatting, audio calling and even file transfer.

When you land at the official website of Skype, just key-in your name to begin a new conversation. Then, Skype will offer a custom conversation link which can be shared with intended recipients. Upon clicking this link, the recipients will be able to interact/converse with you. People can also join your conversations as guests like how you do.

However, do remember that once you register as a guest on Skype, your account would be valid only for one day after which you will have to register with a Skype account.

"You can invite up to 300 people to chat and up to 25 people on a voice or video call, all for free.", states Microsoft in an official blog post.

In related official developments, WhatsApp which is viewed as a competitor to Skype has received the important video-calling functionality on Android, iOS and Windows Phone platforms alike.
