The new A4 is based on the MLB Evo platform, the adoption of which has resulted in decrease of about 100 kg as compared to the outgoing model. This is expected to make the car faster. The exterior of the car has also received some changes in the new version.

The face of the new version sports a sharp hexagonal front grille and new headlamps with integrated DRLs. The sculpted bodylines extend an athletic appearance to the sedan, which is complemented by 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, thin LED tail lights stand apart.

The new Audi A4 measures 4,726mm in length, 1,842mm in width, 1,427mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,820mm. The figures indicate the new version of the sedan is larger and wider over its predecessor. The wheelbase too is larger by 12mm over the outgoing model.

The new A4 features Audi Virtual Cockpit that boasts of a new dashboard layout and panels. The system comprises 12.3-inch TFT display, navigation, vehicle's engine mode display, and an array of other details about the car. The sedan also comes with convenience features such as dual zone climate control, sun blinds, rear A/C vents and Audi's advanced MMI infotainment system.

Audi India is offering the new A4 only in a single petrol powertrain for now. The in-line four-cylinder 1395cc turbo-petrol unit develops 148bhp at 5,000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1,500rpm mated to seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine accelerates A4 to hit 100 kmph speed in 8.5 seconds before reaching the claimed top speed of 210 kmph.
