Neerja trailer: Aamir, Deepika, Alia, other celebs praise Sonam Kapoor's performance

The makers of the much-awaited biopic "Neerja", starring Sonam Kapoor, released the film's first official trailer recently.

The trailer has touched hearts, and thus, within few hours, croseed a million views on YouTube.

The movie is based on the life of model-turned-flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who was shot dead by terrorists during the Mumbai-New York flight hijack in Karachi on 5 September, 1986.

Sonam plays the lead role of Neerja. Directed by Ram Madhvani, "Neerja" will showcase the bravery of the young woman who sacrificed her life in an attempt to save passengers during the hijack.

This is apparently the most challenging role Sonam has played till date. The biopic is slated for release on 19 February, 2016.

Several Bollywood celebs have lauded the "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" actress for her brilliant performance — whatever little of it was evident in the trailer.

From Alia Bhatt to Deepika Padukone to Aamir Khan to Varun Dhawa, stars have lauded the Madhvani directorial.
