Sonam Kapoor's "Neerja" showed massive growth at the Indian box office Saturday. The Ram Madhvani-directed movie has collected Rs 12.30 crore in the domestic market in two days.

"Neerja" is the most-talked-about biographical thriller drama film of 2016. The movie has been creating headlines for all the good reasons ever since it was announced. The film saw a limited release on 700 screens across the domestic market, and had good advance booking for its opening day.

The Saiwyn Quadras-written biopic opened to decent response in the morning and matinee shows and witnessed a big leap in the afternoon and evening shows. The film did superb business in multiplexes Friday, collecting Rs 4.70 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day.

The Sonam Kapoor-starrer received positive response from both critics and audience, and the word of mouth took its business upward Saturday. "Neerja" showed over 60 percent growth, collecting Rs 7.6 crore at the Indian box office on the second day. Its two-day-domestic total stands at Rs 12.3 crore nett.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Neerja has EXTRAORDINARY growth on Day 2. Metros are ROCKING, while mass circuits, which were slow, are gradually showing upward trend..." He added, "#Neerja Fri 4.70 cr, Sat 7.60 cr. Total: ₹ 12.30 cr. India biz. Appreciation of audience translates into BO numbers. Power of solid content! (sic)"

Early trends on Sunday show Fox Star Studios' latest production witnessed further improvement in its business. The collection of "Neerja" is expected to cross the Rs 20-crore mark at the Indian box office in the first weekend. Taran Adarsh ‏tweeted, "#Neerja is expected to witness OPTIMUM growth today [Sun]. Current trending suggests ₹ 20 cr+ opening weekend, which is FABULOUS... (sic)"
