The maker of one of the most popular games, Electronic Arts (EA), is giving away Need for Speed: Most Wanted game free for all Windows PCs. The four-year-old flagship title in the prominent NFS series is available for free for a limited period as part of EA's "On The House" promotion offering on Origin.

Released in 2012, NFS Most Wanted is one of the most popular titles in the series and mostly received positive reviews from gamers and critics. Usually sold for Rs 999 for PCs, there is a good chance the offer can be retracted anytime.

If gamers successfully download the game during the offer time, the full PC version of NFS: Most Wanted is theirs to keep. The game is listed on Origin's website and requires the Origin client to take advantage of the offer.

In order to get started, log in to EA's registered account or sign up if you are a new customer. Go to Origin's "On The House" listing of NFS: Most Wanted and click on Download Now. If you do not have the Origin client installed, download the latest version for your Windows PC.

It is important the system requirements are met before downloading the game or Origin client to ensure optimum performance and gaming experience.

System requirements for Origin client:

  • 250MB of available disk space
  • Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10
  • 1GHz processor (Intel Pentium 4 or newer, AMD Athlon 64 or newer)

After ensuring the system requirements are met, follow the instructions to install Origin. Log in using EA email address and password and navigate to "My Games" tab within the Origin client. Click "Ready to Download" button for NFS: Most Wanted, and start playing.

Previously, games like Jade Empire, Dead Space, Battlefield 3, Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle, and Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 were offered for free for a limited time, Polygon reported.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted was the last of Criterion Games' sole development. Prior to that, the first of Most Wanted episodes was released in 2005 by EA Black Box. The series has since rebooted and the latest version – Need for Speed – developed by Ghost Games was released in November last year on PS4 and Xbox One.
