South Korean manufacturer Samsung, besides being crowned world's top smartphone maker, has achieved another massive feat thanks to its Galaxy S3 winning Global Mobile Award for 'Best Smartphone' at the ongoing international mobile convention MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2013.

Samsung's Galaxy S3 has continued the success of its predecessor Galaxy S2 which was also awarded as the 'Best smartphone' in MWC 2012 edition.

Samsung recently announced price cuts for the Galaxy S3 as the next-generation Galaxy S4 is set to make its debut in New York City on 14 March.

Along with the 'Best Smartphone' award, the company's Galaxy camera won the 'Best Mobile Enabled Consumer Electronics Device'. Samsung Electronics won the 'Best mobile Infrastructure' for the high-performing content-oriented smart LTE (Long Term Evolution) radio networks.

Last but not least, Samsung also won the most coveted award, 'The Best Device Manufacturer of the Year', beating technology giants like arch rival Apple, and others at the MWC.

The global mobile technology award is sponsored by GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communication Association), a group consisting of major mobile operators and related companies. It has been organizing the MWC event annually for the past 18 years.
