Finnish handset maker Nokia, which is riding high on record sales of Lumia smartphone series, has now expanded the flagship range with the unveiling of two power packed mid-range smartphones, Lumia 520 and Lumia 720, at the ongoing mobile convention MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2013 in Barcelona.

Speaking on the occasion, Steven Elop, President and CEO of Nokia said, "The momentum behind Nokia is gathering pace. The launches today reflect our commitment to broadening our devices and services portfolio to meet the demands of people and businesses around the globe."

"By offering better experiences at a more affordable price we are reinventing the battle for affordable mobile devices, and Nokia has the building blocks to win." he added.

The new Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 smartphones are successors to Windows Phones 7.5 OS-based Lumia 510 and Lumia 710.

Both Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 are expected to release in India at the beginning of the second quarter of 2013.

With the price tag of around ₹9,950, Lumia 520 has emerged as the cheapest smartphone in the industry to feature the Windows Phone 8 OS. The title was previously held by Lumia 620, which is priced around ₹13,600. Lumia 620 is already launched Europe, Australia and Asian markets.

According to the latest report, Lumia 620 will hit Indian stores in the first week of March.
