Dehradun, Sep 15 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh police unsuccessfully tried to nab BJP legislator Bharatendra Singh for his alleged role in triggering the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar district of UP. Singh's supporters prevented his arrest after he was booked by the police along with four other BJP legislators, contending that the police have no arrest warrant. Singh had allegedly made a provocative speech at a farmers' gathering, named Khap Panchayat that led to communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar. On this aspect, Bharatendra Singh said that the policemen had no grounds for arresting him.
