The health condition of legendary music composer MS Viswanathan aka MSV, who is now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai, is said to be critical. 

MS Viswanathan was rushed to the Malar Hospital in Chennai on 27 June after he complained of breathing trouble. Since then, he has been undergoing treatment at the hospital. But on Tuesday, his health condition reportedly worsened.

Hospital sources said MS Viswanathan has lost his memory and doctors are extra careful and trying their best to save his life. "But his other parameters are not so bad, so doctors are trying for a revival," Eenadu India quoted a source as saying.

The deteriorating health condition of MS Viswanathan has saddened many in the industry.

Recently, maestro Ilaiyaraja visited MSV at the hospital and spent some time with him. However, his critical condition on Tuesday has bothered many film personalities and his fans. Soon after hearing the news, several celebs reportedly rushed to the hospital to enquire about his health condition.

MS Viswanathan is popularly known as Mellisai Mannar (The King of Light Music). He has composed songs for over 1,200 films in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu over five decades. He has also acted and sung in a few Tamil films.

He has worked with late legendary actors MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan and was ruling the roost in Tamil cinema till the late 1970s.
