Motorola Mobility on Thursday unveiled its Defy series of smartphones, the Defy Mini, which will hit the market on June 20 and the Defy XT, which is made available as of immediately across retail stores in India.

"Our original Motorola DEFY was a hit all over Asia. We are now expanding our portfolio of water-resistant smartphones to give you more choices without having to break your wallet," Rajan Chawla, country head (sales and operations), India, Motorola Mobility said in a press release.

Running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, both the touchscreen devices come equipped with a plethora of unique features target the average Indian user. Amongst the unique features are MotoSwitch 2.0 , an intuitive user interface which adapt to the specific way users operate the device and the Social Graph and Activity Graph which provide for fast access to several applications on the device.

Both devices come packed with the all powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 series processor. Priced at INR 16, 190, the Defy XT features a 3.7-inch screen that supports 480x854 pixel resolution, a 5-mega pixel rear facing camera with flash, plus a VGA camera on the front. Powered by 1GHz of processing speed, the device comes with 512MB of internal memory and 1 GB of storage expandable to 32 GB via a memory card.

The Defy Mini, on the other hand, comes with a cheaper price tag of INR 11,490 and has provision for dual-SIM. Besides sporting a smaller 3.2-inch 320x480 pixel resolution display backed by a 600 MHz processing speed, the Mini also features a decent 3.15 megapixel rear facing camera with flash plus a secondary camera on the front. Memory specifications include 512 MB RAM plus 512 MB of storage expandable to 32 GB.

Both the smartphones come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass for display protection, and Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery that Motorola touts will give nine and a half hours of talk time. There's also support for Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, Wi-Fi, micro SD and DLNA support. In addition, the devices are also made for tough handling and are resistant towards water and dust.
