Tata Motors will be brining yet another update to the Safari Storme SUV and this time, the vehicle will be more powerful. One of the longest selling models in the Tata line-up, the Safari Storme got major changes inside the cabin in the latest facelift in June this year.

The new Safari will carry forward the same 2.2-litre Varicor engine that has increased output to 155bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to six-speed manual transmission and shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive will also be on offer.

The report in AutocarIndia also indicates the higher output will be available only with the top-of-the-line VX trim. The other trim will be available with the current 2.2 Varicor engine that develops 148bhp and 320Nm of torque mated to five speed manual transmission.

There were also rumours of a six-speed automatic transmission for the new Safari, which has been developed for the Hexa crossover. The transmission will be employed to other vehicles of Tata only after the launch of the Hexa, which is expected soon.

The design of the SUV is not expected to get any major changes. However, minor exterior add-ons to differentiate the flagship variant from the rest are expected. This could be a restyled grille, tweaks, special graphic and special badging.

The powerfull version will be priced at a slight premium to the current range-topping Vx 4x4, priced at Rs 14.43 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
