This Onam season will be a treat for movie goers in South India as four major films are expected to hit theatres. Mohanlal's "Peruchazhi", Mammootty's "Rajadhi Raja", Dileep's "Villai Veeran" and Priyanka Chopra's "Mary Kom" is all set to release this Onam.

Directed by Omung Kumar, "Mary Kom" is an action packed film based on the life and success of five-time world champion and Olympic medal-winning boxer, Mary Kom. The film will be released worldwide on 5 September.

Priyanka Chopra has completely transformed from her glamorous look with a sculpted body and muscles. The actress also wore prosthetic eyelids to get a perfect North-Eastern look, and received lots of attention from the media and fans. 

The trailer shows Chopra fighting all odds to become a world champion. Saiwyn Quadras has done the story and screenplay of "Mary Kom" and dialogues are written by Karan Singh Rathore and Ramendra Vashishth.

The music is composed by Shashi and Shaivamm and the background score is done by Rohit Kulkarni. The lyrics are penned by Prashanth Ingole and Sandeep Singh.

The boxing choreography is done by Rob Miller, and Parvez Shaikh did the action direction. While the cinematography is done by Keiko Nakahara, the editing is done jointly by Rajesh G Pandey and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is also the creative director of the film.

"Peruchazhi"

Mohanlal's "Peruchazhi" is a political satire film, directed by Arun Vaidyanathan. The film is all set to release on 29 August and will be distributed by Fox Star Studios outside Kerala with English subtitles and Friday Tickets will distribute it in Kerala.

Mohanlal plays the role of an aspiring clever politician Vishwanathan, an illiterate in English, who is sent to the US during the gubernatorial election with a mission of raising the political graph of a politician who failed to keep his promise to his people.

The film also has Mukesh as Minister Francis Kunjappan, who is Vishwanathan's friend as well as political rival. Aju Varghese will be seen as Vayalar Varkey and Baburaj as Jabbar Pottakuzhy, who are Vishwanathan's aids.

"Peruchazhi" also has Vijay Babu, Delhi Ganesh, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Sean James Sutton, Ragini Nandhawani, Andrea Jeremiah, Sandra Thomas and Poonam Bajwa in the lead roles.

The songs are composed by Arrora and the lyrics are penned by Rajeev Nair and Venugopal Ramachandran Nair. The songs are sung by Bombay Jayashree, Jyotsna, Karthik and Andrea Jeremiah. While the art direction is handled by Bawa and Julie Ziah, editing is done by Vivek Harshan and the cinematography is by Arvind Krishna.

This big-budget film is produced by Vijay and Sandra under the banner of Friday Film House and will remake it soon into Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

"Rajadhi Raja"

"Rajadhi Raja" is a highly expected Mammootty film, directed by debutant Ajay Vasudev. The film, set to release on 5 September, is touted as a mass film like the superstar's previous films "Raja Manikyam" and "Pokkiriraja." 

"Rajadhi Raja" scripting is by hit makers Udhayakrishna and Siby K Thomas, who have earlier done "Thuruppu Gulan", "Twenty 20", "Ee Pattanathil Bhootham", "Pokkiri Raja", and "Kammath and Kammath."

"Rajadhi Raja" also has Laxmi Rai, Siddhique, Joy Mathew, Lena, Joju George, Mukesh Khanna and Taniya Stanely in the lead. The film will also see Unni Mukundan in a cameo role.

Shaji will handle the cinematography and the editing is done by Mahesh Narayanan. The film is produced by MK Naseer under the banner of Goodline Productions.

"Villali Veeran"

Dileep's "Villali Veeran" is directed by debutant Sudheesh Shankar with Namitha Pramod and Mythili in the lead roles.

Dileep plays the role of a humble vegetable trader from a small village. He shoulders the responsibilities of his family and is someone who is ready to sacrifice anything for his sisters. The story takes a turn when Namratha (Namitha) comes to his life.

"Villali Veeran" is a comedy flick and has Suraj Venjarammoodu, Kalabhavan Shajon, Kottayam Nazeer, Saju Kodiyan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neena Kurup, Geetha Vijayan, Valsala Menon, Vinaya Prasad, Nedumudi Venu and Lalu Alex in pivotal roles.

The screenplay of the film is done by Dinesh Pallath. The cinematography is by Anil Nair and editing is done by Jayashankar. Rafeeq Ahamed and Murukan Kattakada have penned the lyrics for the film's songs, while the music has been composed by S. A. Rajkumar and the comedy entertainer is produced by Super Good Films.
