Modi's 'Scared' Wife Jashodaben Files RTI Demanding Details of Her Personal Security Cover

Unaware of the full details about the security arrangement she is entitled to, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wife, Jashodaben Modi, filed a Right to Information (RTI) application on Monday seeking clarification.

Jashodaben filed her RTI plea at Gujarat's Mehsana district superintendent of police's office, demanding full details of security and other arrangements she and her family were entitled to and sought certified copies of all the orders of the same.

"I filed the application asking for details about my security and what else I am entitled to," Jashodaben told the Hindustan Times.

"I should be provided a certified copy of the order under which security is provided to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's family members, brothers, sisters and me," she cited in the RTI application.

She mentioned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination by her own commandos and expressed her concern. She also cited that the security guards have no official order to show on demand.

"When I ask them to show the orders under which they are deployed, they don't have any answers," Jashodaben told The Times of India.

"I, the petitioner, who is the wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi... travel by public transport while my bodyguards travel by official vehicle. ... The commandos assigned to me have no official order by which they have been posted at my residence," the application read.

She has sought the details within 48 hours of submitting the RTI application, citing the issue to be a matter of "life and death."

As Modi had acknowledged Jashodaben, a 62-year-old retired school teacher as his wife in his election nomination form, her brother Ashok Modi wants that she get all the facilities she is entitled to.

"Since Narendra Modi himself has acknowledged her as his wife in his election nomination form, she is the first lady (sic) and is entitled to get all facilities like Manmohan Singh's wife used to get from the government," Ashok Modi said.

"She deserves to be with Narendrabhai in Delhi because he is no longer an RSS pracharak. He is the Prime Minister of India now," he added.

Jashodaben and her family have been given six special protection guards (SPG) along with a vehicle to accompany her wherever she goes. However, Jashodaben travels by public transport as neither she nor her brother own a vehicle.
