Modi Hands Over ₹5 Lakh to Blast Victims' Kin, JDU Accuses BJP of Interfering in State Issue

Gujarat CM Narendra Modi met the families of the six people who were killed in serial bomb blasts during his 'Hunkar rally' on Sunday.

"Met family of Shaheed Raj Narain Singh in Gaurichak. Proud to know that his 2 sons are serving in the Army!" Modi announced on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The prime ministerial candidate of the NDA also handed over cheques of ₹5 lakh to the families of the six victims, who were from six separate districts in Bihar. "Met Guddu who died in blast .BJP HANDED 5 lakh chq to .wife," Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted.

Modi commuted in a helicopter to each of the six villages in Gaurichak, Kaimur, Gopalganj, Supaul, Begusarai and Nalanda districts.

"In Kaimur, met the wife & children of Shaheed Vikas Singh and offered my deepest condolences to the family," Modi said.

However, there has been a fresh political tussle between the BJP and its former 17-year-old ally, Janata Dal United (JDU).

JDU leader K C Tyagi accused Modi of interfering in the state matters of Bihar by visiting and compensating the families of the victims.

"I have seen Centre interfering in state matters but for the first time a state is interfering in another state's matters," Tyagi told ANI.

The Gujarat CM was provided with a five-tier security during his short visit to the six villages in Bihar.

Modi was surrounded by a dozen IPS officers from Gujarat, including police commissioner, additional police commissioners and DCPs. There was an advance team of police officers who got engaged in the security drill and visited the Patna airport and the villages.

While the Intelligence Bureau has put Bihar on high alert in view of Modi's visit, an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) facility has been provided to Modi by the Union Home Ministry.

"With 1000 Gujarat policemen Modi is visiting Bihar, Is Bihar Police suppose to work under Gujarat police? It is a straight attack on Bihar," Tyagi said.

BJP had criticised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for not meeting the families of the victims, saying that Modi will compensate for such insensitivity.
