Xiaomi announced its MIUI 8, the latest version of its custom ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, in China last month, but it didn't reveal its release date, keeping its fans in the dark. Now, it has been reported that the new operating system will come within a couple of months.

The Chinese technology giant has announced that the MIUI 8 stable version will be released to the public in August, according to GizmoChina. However, it didn't reveal the exact release date of the OS. 

The MIUI 8 developer ROM has already been made available to the users in China. It will come with several features, including new design, redesigned Gallery app, new scanner, support for long screenshots, improved calculator, special effects for video editing, all-new battery saver, multi-window management, task manager, and anti-fraud SMS security.

The Chinese smartphone maker is expected to be rolled out the final version of the MIUI 8 to devices such as the Xiaomi 2S, Mi 2, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4c, Mi 4S, Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Redmi 1, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 2, and Redmi Note 3.

At the moment, Xiaomi is set to release MIUI 7.5 China stable ROM which has a few features seen in the MIUI 8. The roll out will begin at 11:00AM (GMT+8) on June 29. Devices that run MIUI V5, MIUI 6 and MIUI 7 stable ROM should receive the MIUI 7.5 via OTA (over-the-air). Those running the developer version have to install the stable version. 

Devices that will receive MIUI 7.5 China stable ROM first are the Mi Max (64GB and128GB models), Mi Max (32GB model), Mi 5, Mi 4S, Mi Note Pro, Mi Note, Mi 4c, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4G (Single SIM), and Redmi 1S, according to Miui website.

It went on to say that handsets like the Redmi 3S/3x, Redmi 3, Redmi Note Prime (4G, Dual SIM), Redmi Note 3 MTK, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and Redmi 1 will get the MIUI 7.5 China stable build by July 4.
