The 86 contestants at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant mesmerised the crowds in their evening gowns, during the preliminary competition on Tuesday evening.
After the swimwear round, the contestants paraded on the ramp and flaunted their gowns at the event, which is being held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow.
Evening gown, swimwear, and question and answer rounds are the most important contests in the Miss Universe competition. The scores of the evening gown and swimwear rounds will add up to the final score, following which the top five finalists will be selected.
The preliminary judges of the event are E! News correspondent Alicia Quarles, modeling manager Corrine Nicolas, award-winning TV journalist David Perozzi, PR and marketing manager Gabriel Rivera-Barraza, businesswoman Irina Agalarova, Senior Vice President of Telemundo media Jose Sariego and Miss Universe 2010 Elena Semikina from Canada.
While some of the contestants turned out to be a major surprise during the contests, some disappointed.
Contestants from Tanazia, India, Dominican Republic, Israel, Belgium, USA, Poland, Korea, Argentina, Haiti, Spain Philippines, Turkey, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Indonesia, Puerto Rico and others were among the prettiest candidates who walked on stage in their beautiful gowns.
The event was hosted by Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and Nick Teplitz. The crowning event will take place on 9 November in Russia where current Miss Universe title holder Olivia Culpo will crown the winner.
