An 11-year-old rape victim from Bhopal's Itarsi tried to commit suicide after learning that one of the accused has been let out of prison.

The minor's father revealed to reporters that she feared the alleged rapist would try to kill her. Reportedly, the accused rapists had threatened her and the scared girl poured kerosene on herself and tried to self immolate around 11 am on Wednesday, October 12.

Although she is out of danger now, there are third degree burns on her body. "She is out of danger right now, but has suffered third-degree burns on 40 percent of her body. Investigation is underway," SDOP Anil Sharma said.

The minor, who was raped on February 16, by 20-year-old Lalla Yadav with accomplice Anil Yadav, aged 24, was first attacked with a blade on her face. After raping her, the accused dumped her with a deep cut in her throat. She was found bleeding and unconscious in Nayagaon village.

Despite the harrowing experience, the girl gave her statement to the police as soon as she was in a condition to speak.
