Microsoft's much awaited tablet Surface Pro 2 is set to be unveiled on 22 October, the same day when the company's future division Nokia is expected to debut its own tablet in the Nokia World Event, reports Geek Wire.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is the next iteration of the Surface Pro tablets. Recently, it has been noted that the specifications of the gadget have been revealed online, giving users a chance to figure out whether the device is worth buying, as compared to its previous version.

Following is the specifications comparison of the two Surface Pro tablets:

Similarities

Both versions are same in dimensions (10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53in) and weight (907grams). The screen size (10.6in), resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and the pixel density (207ppi) on the screen are also reported to be the same by The Unlockr.

The camera front also looks the same with both rear and secondary cameras sporting a 0.9 megapixel sensors.

Differences

The new iteration, Surface Pro 2, has some upgrades over Surface Pro when it comes to processors, RAM, storage variants and battery capacity.

Surface Pro 2 comes with the same 1.7GHz quad-core, Intel i5 processor but the only difference is that the device sports the 4th-gen processors (Battery Power Management) over the previous iteration's 3rd-gen.

The RAM has been bumped up from 4GB to variants of 4GB and 8GB, depending on the storage option of the device.

-256/512GB storage variant comes with 8GB RAM

The battery has been doubled in capacity from 4 hours to 8 hours in Surface Pro 2. Some extra features include:

-Unlimited Skype calling (free for 1 year)
-Kickstand with two angle settings

Along with these extra features, the device's price has also reached a level up.

Based on the specifications, there are some noticeable upgrades for users buying the 256GB and 512GB storage variants. However, users who already have Surface Pro should try to stick with the device if they are fine without the minimal extra features and double battery life.
