Microsoft is all set to launch new budget smartphone Lumia 640 series in India on 7 April.

To provide some perspectives on the new Microsoft smartphone, we have listed key aspects to help buyers to decide whether Lumia 640 is worth their money.

Top Five Salient Features of Microsoft Lumia 640:

4G/LTE: With 4G Category 4 certifications (bands include 3, 7, 38, 39, 40, and 41); users can download files with 150 mbps speed and upload files with 50mbps.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 (with Lumia Denim Update): The new OS bring the much needed – 'Action Center', similar to the 'Notification' center found in the Android devices. The new – 'Live Tiles'- an animation based feature of Windows Phone 8.1, enables the user to re-size application's face on the home screen based on your priority and it will also show real-time update whenever home screen lights up.

Cortana Voice-assistant: Microsoft's Cortana is an intuitive personal digital assistant, similar to Siri (in Apple devices) and Google Now (in Android Devices). Its persona is inspired by the popular artificial intelligence character (Master Chief's AI side-kick) seen in the popular "Halo" video game series. It is powered by Microsoft's very own search engine Bing.

One of the key attributes of Cortana is that it learns your search and phone operation patterns (with your permission) and over time it gets better with predicting your behavior. It checks in with you before she assumes you're interested in something and give suggestions/recommend options, such as nearest restaurant and best dishes in the locality. And in the morning, it will dish out real-time traffic and weather condition details to plan your travel route accordingly.

Microsoft has also confirmed that Lumia 640 will get the new Windows 10 OS update later in the year.

Free Microsoft Office apps and One-Drive cloud space: One of the key privileges of owning a Microsoft device is that users get free value-added Office apps, which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. These apps, with the help of One-Drive cloud storage make project work documents available at any Windows devices, making it seamlessly accessible anywhere.

Camera: Microsoft Lumia 640 houses a feature-rich 8.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, auto-focus, 1/4-inch sensor size, Lumia Camera 5 app and full HD video recording ability.

On the front, it features a 0.9-megapixel camera with f/2.4 apertures and HD video recording ability.

Price: It is learnt that Microsoft Lumia 640 will be priced under ₹10,000 and considering the fine hardware incorporated in the phone, it is sure to give stiff challenge to popular brands such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, the recently-released Huawei Honor 4X, and others.
