After launching the flagship Lumia 950 series, American technology major Microsoft has released the budget smartphone Lumia 550 in India.
The new entry-level phone Lumia 550 features 4.7-inch display and comes packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core SoC (System-on-Chip) backed by 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and 2100 mAh battery.
Lumia 550 runs on the Microsoft's latest Windows 10 OS, but sadly due to its hardware constraints, it cannot support the Continuum feature.
For the uninitiated, Continuum helps convert the phone in to a mini-PC. It is a new, adaptive user experience offered in Windows 10 that optimises the look and behaviour of apps and the Windows shell for the physical form factor and customer's usage preferences to provide a PC-like experience. As of now, it is available in Lumia 950 series only.
Microsoft Lumia 550 price and availability:
The company has reportedly confirmed that the new Lumia 550 will hit stores across in India next week on 23 December for Rs. 9,399. It will be available in matte black and glossy white colour options.
Going by the Lumia 550's spec-list and price ratio, it Microsoft will find it hard to sell this new device. Some of its rivals to name a few - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Asus Zenfone Laser, Lenovo K3 Note, Yureka Plus, Yuphoria, Moto E (2nd gen) - offer better features for the same or a lesser price compared to Lumia 550.
