The launch of Lava Mobile's much-awaited flagship smartphone series Iris Pro, which has been dubbed as a rival to Micromax Canvas 4, has been postponed indefinitely due to some business problem, said the company.

The company has posted a two line message to the Iris Pro series fans on its official social network Facebook site thanking fans for their enthusiasm for the Lava smartphone and said that the delay in unveiling was due to some 'business exigencies'. The company said that the new launch date and availability of Iris Pro will be announced on a later date.

"We're grateful to you for all the enthusiasm that's been expressed for Lava Iris Pro, our upcoming range of premium handsets. The iris pro series will be revealed at a later date due to business exigencies. We shall keep you posted on the formal launch date and its availability in India," wrote Lava Mobile on its Facebook page.

The company was supposed to launch last Sunday (25 August), but it instead posted a crossword puzzle with three key features of Iris Pro hidden inside it. However, the Lava's lame gimmick has been back fired as many fans panned the company for failing to keep its promise.

Lava had been airing ads on TV for the last one month and it soon gained lot of attention for its striking resemblance with Apple iPhone's metallic body design sending jitters to rival counterparts in India.

The company had revealed that the Lava Iris Pro would feature 720p HD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Android Jelly Bean OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology.

The TV ad also revealed that the smartphone would come with dual LED flash on the rear side and hinted that Iris Pro might also boast of gesture control based features which led many believe to that the Lava smartphone would give the reining local leader, Micromax a run for its money. Iris Pro series has been unofficially tagged as 'Micromax Canvas 4 Challenger' but the real fight will begin only when the smartphone hits the stores.
