Micromax Canvas 4 A210 with Metal Frame Launched for ₹17,999

Popular Indian smartphone maker Micromax on Monday (8 July) unveiled its much anticipated next-generation Canvas 4 in Delhi.

Rahul Sharma, Micromax co-founder, at the launch event said, "With the launch of Canvas 4, we are yet again raising the bar for affordable innovation. Canvas 4 combines great functionality and style, complemented by an entire eco-system of applications that directly address the needs of our evolving consumers."

Micromax Canvas 4 A210 sports a 5.0-inch TRU IPS display with HD 1280x720p resolution and runs on Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Other specifications include a 1.2GHz Mediatek Cortex A7 quad-core processor (Chipset type: MT6589), PowerVR SGX544 graphics engine, 1GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The company has also taken a leaf out of Samsung Galaxy S4. The Canvas 4 smartphone has the video playback feature - Smart Pause, wherein the smartphone automatically pauses a video if the user looks away from the screen and resumes right away when he/she turns their attention back to the handset. The display also come with touch-free feature - 'Blow to Unlock', wherein the user can unlock the screen by just blowing on it. There is also a gesture control feature which allows the user to place or answer calls by just raising the phone.

Apart from its Aluminum frame and some smart camera features, Canvas 4 is kind of a moderate upgrade from its predecessor, A116 Canvas HD, which was launched with pretty much the same internal components.

Micromax claimed that the company received close to 11,500 pre-orders for the Canvas 4 since 28 June. The shipments are expected to begin from tomorrow and consumers will be able to get their hands on Canvas 4 with a smartphone cover worth ₹3,000 at major retail stores by this weekend.
