Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will get exclusive content for PlayStation devices, Konami announced.

Since Metal Gear Solid has been associated with PlayStation consoles for a long time, a new mission titled Deja-Vu will be released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, to celebrate its association.

This mission will give access to play as the original Classic Snake, with "graphics that are limited to blocky pixelated polygons," said the official Metal Gear Solid website.

A trailer is also available showing Classic Snake on a rescue mission.

Kojima and Ground Zeroes Early Release

Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid, has said that Ground Zeroes will release early, as the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain progresses.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, he revealed that his earlier plans were to release Ground Zeroes in 2010, "Honestly, I really wanted to release Ground Zeroes right after Peace Walker," said Kojima.

"Whether on PSP or PS3. But then we had development issues, some delays with Metal Gear Rising as well. And then we learned about next generation coming, so it ended up being the way it is now."

Kojima admitted that it is usually ideal to release the standalone game, along with the main game. However, he feels the stakes are different here. "Given that this week we have the next generation of game consoles coming out, a lot of the fans wanted to play something sooner. And given that the main game is a rather big game and still in development, it will take a little bit more time to get it out. We decided to listen to the fans and put at least the prologue out there so people will get the experience."

Ground Zeroes - Details

Kojima revealed some details of the game, claiming that since the game will be open-world, there will be fewer cutscenes as that would be taking away players' freedom. He also added that the Phantom Pain will be 200 times bigger than the map that was shown at TGS 2013.

He said Ground Zeroes is, "one big mission that leads into the events of the main game," and this mission will have strong relation with the main part of Phantom Pain.

Ground Zeroes will have "several side elements, collecting specific items, doing something within a certain amount of time." He adds that players will find many elements in their side-ops which are scattered and only takes form when one can put it together. "It will put together a story within the player's mind of what is the next part of the game," he said.

Release Date

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be released during spring 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles and will be a prologue to Phantom Pain.
