Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new M-Class, which will be now called GLE. The SUV will be available in 250d and 350d variants and have been priced at Rs 58.9 lakh and Rs 69.9 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, respectively.

The 250d is powered by in-line, four-cylinder 2143cc diesel engine that develops 204bhp at 3800rpm and 500Nm of torque in the range of 1600-1800rpm. The bigger 350D variant features V6, 2987cc diesel engine that develops 258bhp at 3400rpm and 620Nm of torque starting from 1600rpm. Both engines are mated to an all-new 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox, which makes its debut in India and power is transmitted to all four wheels via the 4MATIC AWD.

The 250d accelerates fro 0-100kmph in 8.6 seconds and comes with estimated top speed of 212kmph while the 350d needs only 7.1 seconds for 100kmph before topping the speed at 225kmph. The 250d ride on18-inch alloys while the 350d gets 19-inch wheels.

The face-lifted version gets a redesigned front design that is in line with the new brand design language as seen on S-Class. The SUV also gets new all LED headlights with the adaptive function. Additionally the SUV features large air-dams and twin rectangular exhausts and roof rails.

Inside, the GLE gets a new seven-inch Comand infotainment system borrowed from the C-Class. The 250d comes with all black upholstery while the 350d comes with more premium black and beige theme. The GLE also boasts five driving modes that include ice and off-road. These modes adjust suspension, engine, gearbox and throttle response according to the terrains.

Mercedes-Benz will manufacture both the variants locally at Pune manufacturing unit.
