German luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz has launched a petrol variant for its GLE SUV on Thursday. The GLE 400 4MATIC has been unveiled with a powerful V6 petrol engine and it is the first time Mercedes-Benz is launching petrol engine in GLE range. The new variant has been priced at Rs 74.90 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi.

The 2996cc V6 petrol engine in the GLE 400 4MATIC develops 328.5bhp from 5250 rpm and 480Nm of torque from 1600rpm mated to 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission. The engine powers new GLE variant to reach top speed of 247kmph, according to the company. The GLE 400 4MATIC also comes with features such as Airmatic suspension with Adaptive Dampening System, Dynamic Select, Harman Kardon Logic 7 Surround sound system, LED Headlamps, electric sunroof and parking package with Parking Assist and 360 degree camera.

"With the launch of the GLE 400 4MATIC, our discerning customers will now have the option of choosing between the petrol and the diesel version of our highest selling SUV. For the first time, we are introducing the GLE with a petrol mill and this underscores our strategy of offering the right product for our growing customer base" said Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.

The new variant remains identical to the other variants of the GLE in terms of design. This is the fourth GLE variant of Mercedes-Benz; others being GLE 250 d, GLE 350 d and the GLE 450 AMG Coupe.
