German luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz's GLC luxury SUV is likely to enter the Indian market this year. The GLC, previously known as GLK, is likely to be launched in the domestic market in June 2016, Rushlane reported.

The GLC, which made its global debut in June last year, was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 February. The GLC SUV is said to be one of the 12 models to be launched in India by Mercedes-Benz this year. The GLC measures 4,656mm in length, 1,644mm in height, 2,096mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,874mm.

Mercedes-Benz GLC is expected to be powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel engine mated to a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. As for features, the SUV, inspired by the S-Class, is expected to come with COMAND infotainment leather upholstery and a 3-spoke steering wheel. To be pitted against BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the SUV is likely to be priced at around Rs. 45 lakh.

Meanwhile, German luxury car brand clocked sales of 13,558 units between April 2015 and March 2016 in India, making it the best ever yearly sales of the company in the country. The company registered 21 percent growth in FY2015-2016 against the sale of 11,213 units in FY14-15.
