Meizu just made it to the headlines with its all-new m2 smartphone release in India. With an attractive price tag of Rs 6,999, the affordable handset is ready to take on some of the industry's prominent players. Meizu m2 packs incredible specs that make quite an appeal to the budget shoppers of India. But the new handset is not without rivals.

If you are looking for a budget smartphone that delivers a great price-to-performance ratio, we narrowed down a few options just for you. Since Meizu m2 is the latest entry into the budget smartphone market in India, we included it in our comparison with the popular YU Yuphoria and Lenovo A6000 Plus. All three handsets are priced differently but we are going to find out which handset offers the best value-for-money.

Display and Design

Meizu m2 is the company's latest addition to the budget smartphone offering in India. The handset features an elegant unibody design made of polycarbonate, keeping the device light and sleek. It features a 5-inch HD display with GFF full lamination technology to minimise reflection and improve readability even in sunlight.

YU Yuphoria features a metal frame that gives it a premium feel and improves on the ruggedness of the device. The handset sports a 5-inch HD display, much like the m2, but protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

Comparatively, Lenovo A6000 Plus dons a plastic cover surrounding its 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. The screen size and resolution in all three phones are the same but the handsets have unique design language.

Camera

Since cameras have become a vital component of smartphones these days, companies are trying to maintain a high standard while choosing the sensor. Meizu m2 gets a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor by Samsung with f/2.2 aperture for rich and sharp images and LED flash. The front camera uses a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture for better selfies.

We haven't received the review unit yet to verify the clarity of the camera in Meizu m2, but we guess it will be great considering its specifications. Comparatively, YU Yuphoria features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper. Lenovo A6000 Plus comes with 8MP primary camera along with LED flash and a front facing 2MP snapper.

Camera-wise, Meizu m2 seems to be the clear winner, but we will hold our verdict until we get our hands on the device.

Battery

Meizu m2 is powered by a first-class Sony/ATL 2,500mAh, which according to the company lasts for up to 23 hours on 2G talk time or 10 hours on 4G. YU Yuphoria and Lenovo A6000 Plus pack identical 2,230mAh and 2,300mAh battery respectively.

Under the hood

The specs that power individual smartphones play a vital role in great performance. Meizu m2 smartphone is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clocking speeds at 1.3GHz, which is paired with 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB expandable memory and Mali-T720 GPU. The handset also runs a highly customised version of Android 5.1 Lollipop, Flyme 4.5 out of the box and supports 4G FDD-LTE and TD-LTE.

YU Yuphoria is powered by a slightly slower 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset that clocks 1.2GHz, which is same as Lenovo A6000 Plus. Both handsets pack 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. Yuphoria runs on stock Android 5.1 Lollipop, after a recent change that replaced the Cyanogen OS, while A6000 Plus runs on company's own Vibe UI 2.0 based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Both smartphones support 4G LTE and have dual SIM slots along with a microSD card slot.

Price and availability

Price wise, Yuphoria takes the top spot with Rs 6,499 tag, which was recently dropped by the company. The handset is available freely without flash sales on Amazon India so getting it won't be a problem.

Priced at Rs 6,999, Meizu m2 takes the second spot. It clearly outperforms its rivals in more than one category. The handset goes on sale on 12 October on Snapdeal and registrations for the flash sale are open till 11 October.

Lenovo A6000 Plus is the costliest among the three phones at Rs 7,499 and is available on Flipkart without registration.
