Meizu conducted the first sale for its newly-released m2 smartphone in India on Monday, 12 October, only to witness the handset last briefly. As the affordable Rs 6,999 smartphone went on sale at 11am, it was made available for everyone regardless of their registration status. This was quite an advantage for Meizu in selling numerous units in a very short period.

It is unclear how many units were on sale on Monday, but the company has promised to send out the sale details early on Tuesday. As Meizu m2's first sale in India appeared to be quite successful, the Chinese smartphone maker is promising the refill the stock and open sale once again. There is no specific date for the next m2 sale but the Meizu's official Facebook handle promises "to be back soon."

It's not surprising to see Meizu m2 sell like hot cupcakes in India as the country has great potential for budget-priced feature-heavy smartphones. Meizu m2 has a premium and elegant design that adds to consumer attraction. Built using polycarbonate, Meizu m2 features a unibody design with a five-inch HD display and a layer of GFF full lamination to reduce reflection.

Meizu m2 also offers great cameras on both sides. On the rear side of the device, there's a 13-megapixel Samsung CMOS sensor with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Selfie lovers can relish the 5MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture to give you better images even in low light.

Under the hood, Meizu m2 doesn't seize to surprise. It is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clocking speeds at 1.3GHz paired with 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB expandable memory and Mali-T720 GPU. The handset runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme 4.5 and supports 4G FDD-LTE and TD-LTE. The handset draws power from a first-class Sony/ATL 2,500 mAh battery and promises to deliver 23 hours on 2G calls or 10 hours on 4G.

With the specs, Meizu managed to tap the right price range, selling the m2 for Rs 6,999. The handset competes with the likes of YU Yuphoria, Lenovo A6000 Plus and other sub-Rs 10,000 smartphones.

We'll keep an eye out for Meizu m2's next sale date and bring you the update.
