Meizu made its presence felt in the premium smartphone market in China by launching an upgrade to its Pro 6 flagship. The all-new Pro 6s comes with certain improvements to its predecessor, but the question remains whether it is enough to convince buyers.

Meizu Pro 6s is an upgraded version of the Pro 6 smartphone, but all the changes are made under the hood. The Pro 6s is priced at ¥2,699 (approx. Rs. 26,700) and expected to be available in China soon. In terms of comparison, the Pro 6s launch price is cheaper than the Pro 6 (64GB), which was ¥2799 (around Rs.28,800), but the company also had a 32GB variant of the Pro 6 priced at ¥2499 (roughly Rs. 25,700).

For its price, the Pro 6s offers 64GB onboard storage without further expansion, just like its predecessor. As for the upgrades, the Pro 6s gets an upgraded 12MP Sony IMX386 rear-facing camera with 4-axis optical image stabilisation, laser-assistance, phase-detection autofocus, and 10-LED dual-tone ring flash. The front camera has a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels.

In comparison, the Pro 6 had a 21.16MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, 6-lens, PDAF (Phase Shift Auto Focus), laser assisted focus, coloured ring LED flash, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, but the new variant is expected to deliver better photography results.

Another upgrade in the Pro 6s is the battery, which has been pumped up to 3,060mAh from the 2,560mAh as seen on the Pro 6. With such a large battery, Meizu has also added fast charging support with mCharge 3.0 technology via 24W charger.

Other than these changes, the Pro 6s is pretty much same as the Pro 6. The design is the same with curve-edged aluminium unibody and the display gets the 3D Press treatment to compete against Apple's 3D Touch pressure sensitive display technology. It also features the same 5.2-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, it is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 processor, which is paired with 4GB DDR3 RAM and has a USB Type-C port for connectivity. As one can expect, the handset also has 4G LTE with VoLTE and dual SIM support among other standard connectivity features.
