Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said his side showed great character in the enthralling 1-1 draw with Arsenal, after playing three matches in the space of just six days. Spurs headed into the north London derby on 8 November after playing Aston Vila just six days previously on 2 November, along with a mid-week Europa League game against Anderlecht on 5 November.

Despite this, the visitors impressed throughout the game with Arsenal, dominating for long periods and taking the lead when Harry Kane slotted away a Danny Rose pass in the 32nd minute. But a goal from substitute Keiran Gibbs rescued a point for the Gunners to leave the match finishing 1-1.

Reflecting on the draw after the match Pochettino, said he was pleased with the result, noting the squad showed character and maturity under difficult circumstances.

I am very proud of my players in the way that we played, the character we showed, the level we played the game. Because in six days we played three games and its difficult when you play Monday, Thursday and Sunday, he said.

But Im very proud, Im pleased for my players. Their football was brilliant and I think we showed great character in the way that we played and we deserved more. But in the end we have to be happy because its been a very busy week and we showed character and maturity for a very young squad. I am very pleased, added Pochettino.

The result means Tottenham climb to fifth in the table on 21 points, five behind Arsenal who currently sit 2nd in the table with 26 points, the same as Premier League leaders Manchester City.
