Rumour mills have been spinning for months now with stories about Maruti's upcoming premium hatchback, codenamed YRA. Emerging reports on the web indicate that the new YRA hatchback may be called Fronx in India.
The latest interesting tidbit on YRA hatchback came from the folks at GaadiWaadi who have managed to snap the model once again while it was undergoing test rounds in the country. The test mule was camouflaged completely when snapped; however, the spy shots of YRA can give an idea of the overall body proportion and outlines of the new model.
Slated to be launched in India around the festive season this year, Maruti YRA hatchback will be squared off against Honda's upcoming Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20.Under the hood, the model is expected to pack 1.0 litre three cylinder turbocharged engine and a diesel mill.
In India, the model will sit above the company's popular Swift hatchback and will be 90kg lighter than Swift. From what we have heard so far, Maruti YRA will accommodate ample leg room, head room and cabin space.
As for features, Maruti YRA is a global hatchback which made its maiden appearance through Suzuki iK-2 concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 and is expected to get chrome door handles, five-spoke alloy wheels, rear wiper, and de-fogger. Other speculated features include steering-mounted controls, new music system with touchscreen, engine start stop button, electrically-adjustable OVRMs and reverse parking sensors.
