It is perhaps the worst kept secret that Maruti Suzuki is readying a new compact SUV codenamed YBA. Now the latest is that the YBA compact SUV, which is otherwise known as Vitara Brezza, will not use the Swift platform as reported earlier.

A report in Indian Autos Blog citing people close to the development claims that the Maruti Suzuki YBA/ Vitara Brezza will use a different platform and not that of Swift as the SUV needs to accommodate larger wheels.

The Maruti YBA SUV, which is currently in its testing phase in the country, is expected to carry 1.2-litre K-Series engine and 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine under the hood. To be pitted against Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in India, the Maruti YBA is expected to make its India debut at the Auto Expo, 2016. In India, the YBA is likely to get a price tag between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh.

The YBA SUV, a sub-4m model based on Suzuki iV-4 concept SUV that was seen at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, is also speculated to get Maruti's latest SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) technology which was debuted with Ciaz SHVS.
