The launch of Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza petrol has reportedly been delayed further as the company is contemplating to bring the diesel AMT version of the compact SUV first. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been rumoured to get a petrol engine since its launch in the country.

The Vitara Brezza is currently offered only with the diesel engine. In the petrol avatar, the Vitara Brezza is expected to draw power from 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine that does duty in Baleno RS. The petrol turbo can churn out 100bh of power. Currently, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a 200 DDis 1248cc diesel engine tuned to pump 88.5bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Vitara Brezza boasts of best-in-class fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl.

According to India.com, the launch of Vitara Brezza petrol is now slated for the upcoming festive season while the AMT equipped diesel versions are likely to enter the market soon. For Vitara Brezza, Maruti is expected to use the same five-speed AMT box in the Ignis and the Suzuki Dzire. The introduction of the petrol variants is also likely to make the compact SUV more affordable. The diesel variant of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is now priced in the range of Rs 7.19 lakh to Rs 9.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
